The Peoples Emergency Act by Tom MarazzoExcerpt from The People’s Emergency Act: Freedom Convoy 2022

“…There were a lot of people in that room, and since it was the first time I had ever met any of them, I can’t recall who was also there. However one person, Mike Stack, was absolutely unforgettable.

As I was sitting there quietly listening to the meeting conclude, Mike stopped everyone from leaving, pointed directly at me and said, “I want to hear what he has to say.” Honestly, my first thought was that I just wanted to know where I was going to be sleeping for the next few days. But what came out of my mouth was some quick-thinking song and dance about needing to assess the situation and to go from there. Again, I didn’t know anyone, and it was vital that I maintain any perceived level of competence and credibility if I was going to be able to help everyone get a sustainment plan organized.

Even from that initial meeting, I could see that there wasn’t a specific person who was the obvious leader of the Convoy. It was very organic. It reminded me of the joke about the old Sea King helicopters that flew on our Naval Frigates – that they are 10,000 individual parts, flying in unison. So far, I had the feeling that this Convoy was doing exactly the same thing – but that’s by no means a criticism. It was an advantage for us, that I wanted to maintain in the future.

What I immediately realized was that this was different from my Army days, where subordinates were legally bound to follow my orders. With the truckers, I wasn’t signing anyone’s paycheck, nor did I have any delegated authority over them to give orders. No one had any obligation to listen to me and this was going to be entirely about developing their trust in me, using nothing but interpersonal skills and sound decision making…”

…not all was doom and gloom in society. There were many people who were showing absolute courage and true leadership, especially from members of the police community. Through my membership in the POG Telegram group, I learned about Corporal Danny Bulford, an outstanding Canadian RCMP Officer. I saw him on a Zoom call, which was recorded and later shared, about an investigation he had done regarding Covid-19 vaccinations. At that time, the RCMP had also mandated that all RCMP officers would have to take the injection to keep their jobs. Danny had said no publicly, which eventually led to him resigning from the RCMP…

…That first day, was a whirlwind of meeting new people. Most I didn’t know, but two I had definitely seen before. I had finally found my hotel room and was going back into the conference room when I saw this guy I recognized. I was embarrassed to admit I couldn’t remember his name, but I knew immediately who he was from the video he did with POG. It was Corporal Danny Bulford, the former RCMP officer. As I introduced myself, and thanked him for everything he had done, I realized the person he was talking to was Brian Dennison, a Calgary Police Officer who had also resigned on a video from his police car, after 24 years of police service. For me, it was extremely humbling to be able to thank these two courageous men, for sacrificing so much for the public. I was honored to meet them, but instead of embarrassing myself, I made jokes about how much taller they both looked on video, to which they both agreed. I didn’t know it at the time, but this would be my first of many introductions to people who I recognized as courageous Canadian freedom fighters.

CAN YOU HELP PUBLISH THIS BOOK?

My book is being created with the assistance of an assortment of talented individuals including photographers, writers, editors and designers, for which I’m very grateful, but I can’t publish without YOUR help.

As you are most likely aware, many Canadians, including myself, put their livelihoods on the line to fight for the Rights and Freedoms of ALL Canadians during the Freedom Convoy. I’ve set up a GiveSendGo fund and would be most grateful if you could help get my first person account of the events of those three historic weeks, into the hands of Canadians and freedom seekers worldwide.

Thank you for your donation.
